Small and large monuments, historical buildings, triumphal arches, modern buildings, hospitals, towers and palaces. Some are well known monuments, others are lesser known, but all are interesting to watch and visit. All monuments can of course be examined for free from the outside, many can be visited on the inside if you buy a ticket and some can only be looked at from the outside. A monument also can be part of a museum. On the website of a lot of monuments you can pay a virtual visit.
Opening hours
You can see in these lists on what week day a monument is closed for the public or if a monument is closed on public holidays. Visit the website of a monument to find out about facilities, discounts for seniors and children, and accessability for the handicapped. Most of the time monuments like hospitals, university buildings and other public buildings can be visited by just walking in.
Journées du Patrimoine
During Heritage Days (Journées du Patrimoine, second weekend of september), you can visit monuments that normally are closed to the public. Look on the site of the Journées which monuments are open and when.
